Containers

Containers investigates ideas of pixelation, torrenting, and incomplete downloads. As a teenager I heavily relied on sites such as The Pirate Bay to download games, programs, and discographies of music. I quickly became obsessed with watching the download progress, speed, and incessant advertisements that would accompany the webpages. While many of the downloads would complete successfully, others would fragment, corrupting key information and making the program, song, or game inaccessible. In this body of work, I am sourcing imagery from my own prints and drawings created throughout the years. The work is cut into small shapes, varying in size and complexity, and placed into gridded structures. While most of the imagery becomes unrecognizable, remnants of scenes and objects remain and call back to this idea of corruption.
